Journalism continues to take Tristan Tzara’s advice. According to Salon, via Editor & Publisher, columnist Michael McManus, accepted $10,000 from the Bush administration to tout the Community Healthy Marriage Initiative. He did not disclose the payment.
I’m shocked I tell you, shocked.
McManus’s column, hilariously titled “Ethics and Religion,” appears in 50 newspapers. 50 really, really stupid newspapers.
It has become an increasing thrill to hear, well, editors and publishers stridently complaining that blogging lacks editorial oversight. Soon, the world of journalism will become so gravitationally overloaded with irony that it will fold in on itself, creating a black hole from which no news will be capable of escaping.
